The Westin Hilton Head Island
Hilton Head Island, SC
October 2-4, 2009
Held in Conjunction With the 10th Annual Medical Oncology Fellows Forum
CME- and CNE-Certified Conference
Important advances in the field of oncology over the past several years have led to improvements in outcome for several malignancies and newer treatment options for refractory disease. This has resulted in a need to improve performance in clinical practice through the understanding of how to optimally individualize care based on benefits and risks in specific situations and defined patient populations. The 13th Annual Fall Oncology Conference: Clinical Challenges in Cancer Medicine has been designed to address clinical challenges and practical issues faced each day by community oncologists, oncology nurses, oncology physician’s assistants and other oncology professionals. The conference is intended to inform oncology professionals and fellows in training of the recent data on agents approved for and being evaluated in the most common tumor types, including breast, lung, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, gynecological and hematologic malignancies, and sarcoma. In addition, this activity focuses on providing a thorough understanding of the toxicity profiles of controversial and evolving regimens with hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, and novel targeted agents so as to aid oncology professionals in making effective decisions regarding treatment, management of patients and trial enrollment.
This educational program is directed toward medical, radiation, and surgical oncologists with an interest in recent advances in the treatment of solid tumors as well as hematologic malignancies. Fellows, oncology nurses, oncology physician assistants, and pharmacists are also invited to attend. A portion of this program is directly intended for Hematology/Oncology fellows in training who have been nominated by their program directors from across the country. At the conclusion of this conference, you should be able to:
