Conference Overview
Oncology CME-Certified Meeting
The Oncology Best Practices: Targeted Therapies for Breast Cancer meeting is designed to update community oncologists on the latest data on novel biologic agents for both early-stage and advanced/metastatic breast cancer. The format will consist of didactic lectures coupled with extended case-based discussions that will address current and new treatment strategies.
This educational program is directed toward medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists practicing in the community or at academic institutions. Fellows, nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists with an interest in the treatment of breast cancer are also invited to attend.
At the conclusion of this meeting, you should be able to:
- Assess results from adjuvant trials incorporating HER2-targeted agents into the treatment of HER2-positive early-stage breast cancer
- Discuss antibodies and small-molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors targeting the HER2 receptor and their integration into current treatment algorithms
- Compare and contrast first-line treatment options, including combinations of HER2-targeted agents with chemotherapy or endocrine therapy as well as investigational combinations of biologic agents in HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer
- Review novel classes of targeted biologic agents currently under investigation in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer
- Apply new data on the combination of cytotoxic agents with antiangiogenic agents
- Refer appropriate patients to promising clinical trials
