Third Annual Symposium on Gliomas and Secondary Brain Tumors

Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue
Philadelphia
November 14, 2009

Conference Overview

CME-Certified Symposium

The Third Annual Symposium on Gliomas and Secondary Brain Tumors will continue to close gaps in knowledge for physicians engaged in the treatment of patients with CNS malignancies. Current approaches for newly diagnosed and recurrent GBM will be discussed, including the use of chemoradiation therapy and the development of antiangiogenic agents. Therapeutic options for patients with anaplastic and low-grade gliomas will be reviewed, including a discussion of prognostic chromosomal deletions. There will be an entire section on prophylactic and therapeutic interventions for secondary CNS tumors. A discussion of CNS lymphoma will help round out the discussion of CNS malignancies. This symposium will also feature case-based discussions and ample time to interact with the expert faculty.

This educational program is directed toward medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, investigators, practitioners, and fellows in training with research and management interests in gliomas and other tumors of the central nervous system.

At the conclusion of this symposium, you should be able to:

  • Describe therapeutic approaches, including chemoradiation therapy, in patients with newly diagnosed GBM
  • Assess therapeutic approaches, including angiogenesis inhibitors, in patients with recurrent GBM
  • Evaluate treatment options for and the impact of 1p/19q deletions in patients with anaplastic glioma
  • Discuss the optimal treatment approach for patients with low-grade gliomas
  • Evaluate preventative and therapeutic approaches for patients with secondary brain tumors
  • Discuss treatment regimens for patients with primary CNS lymphomas
  • Summarize ongoing trials in CNS malignancies
