The 2010 Current Trends in Lung and Head & Neck Cancer series offers physicians the opportunity to learn about the current standards of care as well as the latest developments in lung and head & neck cancer treatments, including findings presented at recent major oncology conferences. Interactive case discussions will enhance the learning experience and foster the integration of evidence-based patient care into everyday community practice.
This educational program is directed toward medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists interested in the treatment of patients with lung and head & neck cancer. Fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of lung and head & neck cancer are also invited to attend.
At the conclusion of this symposium, you should be able to:
Assess the role of tumor histology and biomarkers in formulating a personalized therapy for patients with lung cancer
Describe differential responses to therapy in patients with head and neck cancer and HPV-positive tumors
Discuss neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy in early-stage lung cancer
Evaluate treatment options under investigation for combined modality therapy of stage III NSCLC
Describe the efficacy and safety of concurrent chemoradiation for patients with LD-SCLC
Assess the efficacy and safety of targeted agents and/or induction regimens for locally advanced head and neck cancer
Evaluate approaches to optimize the integration of targeted agents into treatment of metastatic NSCLC
Describe the role of maintenance therapy with cytotoxic or targeted agents in lung cancer
Apply data from clinical trials to determine the optimal course of therapy in defined patient populations
