Communities of Oncology Practice: Treatment Options for Multiple Myeloma

Multiple Locations Nationwide
February 16-25, 2010

Conference Overview

CME-Certified Program

Note: The meeting in Long Island is now officially cancelled due to inclement weather. We will reschedule within the next few weeks.

The Communities of Oncology Practice: Treatment Options for Multiple Myeloma program is designed to update physicians in a practical context on the current status of treatment for patients with multiple myeloma, including induction, conditioning, and consolidation regimens for transplantation-eligible patients and novel combinations for elderly and transplantation-ineligible patients. Therapeutic approaches to relapsed/refractory disease will also be discussed, as will strategies pertinent to improving outcomes and ameliorating toxicities. Emphasis will be placed on conveying the key findings from recent meetings that will most directly promote optimal physician practice.

The success of this program depends on you!

Bring your own challenging cases for group discussion, and then follow up by joining our online community to test your knowledge with new interactive case studies and to interact with other oncologists in the “Clinicians Lounge.”

For related CME activities, go to IOL.CancerLearning.com, and learn about our Integrated Oncology Learning curriculum in multiple myeloma.

This educational program is directed toward medical oncologists and hematologists interested in the treatment of patients with multiple myeloma. Fellows, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pharmacists, researchers, and other health care professionals interested in the treatment of multiple myeloma are also invited to participate.

At the conclusion of this program, you should be able to:

  • Appraise the efficacy and toxicity of novel induction combinations prior to transplantation
  • Discuss outcomes with consolidation and/or maintenance therapy incorporating targeted agents following transplantation
  • Assess new therapeutic combinations for elderly and transplantation-ineligible patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma
  • Discuss the safety and efficacy profiles of emerging agents and regimens under investigation for patients with multiple myeloma
