Summary and Purpose

THIS MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

The New Developments in Hematologic Malignancies series will cover current issues in the treatment of hematologic malignancies in a practical manner, focusing on conveying the key findings from recent meetings that will most directly impact physician practice. The key messages will primarily be delivered in the form of didactic lectures. Interactive question-and-answer sessions and case-based discussions will provide the participants with an opportunity to interact with faculty and to gain insight into how to integrate the research results into their clinical practices.

Target Audience

This educational program is directed toward medical oncologists and hematologists. Nurses, physician assistants, fellows, and pharmacists in oncology who are interested in the treatment of cancer are also invited to attend.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, you should be able to:

  • Discuss current treatment options for the management of aggressive and indolent lymphomas
  • Evaluate emerging novel agents for the treatment of indolent and aggressive lymphoma
  • Discuss treatment options for newly diagnosed and relapsed multiple myeloma, including those incorporating novel agents such as proteasome inhibitors and immunomodulatory drugs
  • Assess recent clinical advances in the management of chronic myeloid leukemia, including the use of second-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors and other new agents in patients with tyrosine kinase inhibitor–resistant disease
  • Integrate new approaches into the management of chronic lymphocytic leukemia
  • Outline emerging agents for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes, including hypomethylating and immunomodulating agents
  • Assess current treatment options for the management of acute myeloid leukemia
  • Appraise advances in supportive care for hematologic malignancies
