Conference Overview
The
13th Annual International Congress on Hematologic Malignancies: Focus on Leukemias, Lymphomas, and Myelomas is an international congress focusing on advances in the treatment and management of lymphoma, leukemia, myeloma, and other hematologic disorders. The congress will include didactic sessions, debates on controversial topics, interactive case-based discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and translational workshops as well as various opportunities to interact with key thought leaders from North America and Europe. This highly academic congress will provide an opportunity to learn about novel agents for the treatment of hematologic malignancies. Recent developments in the management of Hodgkin disease, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, T-cell lymphoma, acute and chronic leukemias, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative disorders, and idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura as well as the most recent advances in the supportive care of patients with these diseases will be discussed. The overall objective of the congress is to provide updates on treatment options that can be integrated into the management of patients with various hematologic malignancies as well as the management of adverse events and other supportive care issues.
This educational program is directed toward medical oncologists, hematologists, and other physicians with an interest in recent advances in the treatment of hematologic malignancies. Oncology fellows, physician assistants, nurses, and pharmacists interested in the treatment of hematologic malignancies are also invited to attend.
At the conclusion of this congress, you should be able to:
- Describe the biology of various hematologic malignancies that provide rationales for choosing treatment strategies and targeted agents
- Outline the features of high-risk multiple myeloma and discuss stratification models that focus on genetics and gene expression profiling
- Discuss current treatment options for the management of lymphoma, leukemia, and myeloma
- Integrate new approaches into the management of chronic lymphocytic leukemia
- Assess the role of monoclonal antibodies in the management of aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma and their potential for improving clinical outcomes
- Compare the efficacy and toxicity of newly validated induction and first-line therapies for multiple myeloma
- Evaluate recent clinical advances in the management of intolerant/resistant chronic myeloid leukemia, including the use of second-generation TKIs and other new agents in patients with TKI-resistant disease
- Discuss the roles of immunomodulatory agents and proteasome inhibitors in treatment regimens for younger and older patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma
- Evaluate emerging novel agents for the treatment of lymphoma, leukemia, myeloproliferative disorders, and myeloma
- Appraise advances in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic myeloproliferative disorders
- Discuss the safety and efficacy of immunomodulatory and hypomethylating agents, growth factors, and novel agents in the optimal management of myelodysplastic syndromes
- Evaluate consolidation and maintenance therapies with targeted agents in multiple myeloma
- Assess the impact and current role of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in hematologic malignancies
- Evaluate advances in supportive care for patients with hematologic malignancies
