EDUCATION MANAGER, Continuing Professional Development Department

The Education Manger position is responsible for designing needs assessment studies, synthesizing data from various sources and producing reports for Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities including live meetings, newsletters and other media. Additionally, the Education manager performs statistical analysis on pre/post test results and creates reports of findings. The manager will also review and revise grant proposals based on identified needs to be used by others to solicit support for PER products.

Needs Assessment:
Assist in the design of data collection instruments (surveys, interview guides) and help implement methodologies for conducting needs assessments (ie focus groups, KOL interview, surveys, etc.)
Ø Implement and analyze data from needs studies (surveys, interviews, focus groups) and develop reports of key findings using qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Ø Synthesize data from various sources (course evaluations, SOIA, expert opinion, literature reviews, practice guidelines, government and specialty society reports) to keep tumor-specific needs assessment inventories up to date.
Ø Incorporate needs data into grant proposal template components (needs statements, attachments) and keep these up-to-date.
Outcomes Studies and Analysis
Ø Perform statistical analysis on pre/post test results (other level 4 studies) using SPSS and create reports of findings. Extract data that are relevant for needs assessment and add these data to the relevant needs inventory.
Ø Gather, synthesize data from open ended questions of onsite evaluation reports as relates to needs.
Ø Contribute to the evaluation of meetings and enduring materials as needed; i.e., review/revise instruments, create on-line instruments, and write reports
Ø Develop reports for supporters, regulatory agencies and PER staff as needed
Desired Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of education principles
Ability to research literature, write reviews, synthesize and evaluate data
Healthcare knowledge/experience
Testing and measurement basics
Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis preferred.
SPSS experience preferred.

The ideal candidate will be creative and highly motivated with strong collaborative skills; at ease meeting multiple daily deadlines and tracking many details at once; a strategic thinker well-versed in journalistic values, ethics and practices; knowledgeable about web publishing and best practices online; and have at least three years experience editing news, feature, or explanatory stories.
REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) in journalism or related field; additional 3 years experience editing or writing in a journalistic environment; knowledge of AP style, with attention to detail and deadlines; familiarity with multimedia software/web development tools; demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with editors and freelancers.
PREFERRED:
Background in science and/or health care publishing; at least two years online publishing experience.
